At first glance La Glue looked like a motley crew given the varied clothing styles of each member. The keyboard player in a suit hiding a shiny shirt, the guitarist wearing the shirt of a faux prison inmate and the bassist in a basic long sleeved shirt and jeans. The eight piece band played to an underattened house as if it were a full Friday night venue rather than a casual Wednesday night for good friends who heard about the show through word of mouth.

A premiere vue, La Glue resemblerait à un groupe hétéroclite avec le style vestiaire varié de chaque membre. Le claviste en tailleur qui cachait une chemise brillante, un guitariste vêtu d’ une chemise de faux prisonier, alors que le bassiste était en t-shirt à manches longues et en jeans. Le groupe de huit musiciens a joué en concert devant un petit public comme s’il jouait un vendredi soir en salle complet et non pas pour leur bons amis prevenus par de bouche à l’oreille.

Without knowing much about them, I notiched the band bills itself as a jazz, funk band, but there was a pleasantly surprising amount of Ska-influenced music played too. Their interpretation of jazz easily bordered on rock with the rich guitar solos of the lead singer/ guitarist Died Combrouze. Overall the ska-influenced moments were the most fun and so rarely performed in Paris. I left the concert eager to hear more.

Sans les connaître, j’ai remarqué que le groupe se présentait comme un groupe de jazz/ funk, mais à ma grande surprise ils jouaient beaucoup de musique aussi influencée par le Ska. Leur interpretation de jazz a facilement débordé sur un ton rock avec des solos en guitaire très riches du chanteur/ guitariste Died Cambrouze. En tout, les meilleurs moments étaient ceux du Ska ce qui sont rarement presentés à Paris. J’ai quitté le concert en voulant entendre d’avantage.

Guillaume Honoré opened the show with a surprisingly soulful acouostic sound. Although he usually plays with his band, he relied on his acoustic guitar and expermented with beatboxing and scat recorded on stage as he sang melodic fun, little French pop songs.

Guillaume Honoré a fait la première partie avec un soupçon de soul inattendu sur sa musique acoustique. Sans le groupe qui l’accompagne habituellement,, il s’est contenté de sa guitare en expérimentant avec le beatbox et le scat enregistré sur scène tout en chantant ses morceaux originaux et chaloupé de la chanson française.
